"FRAME OF MIND" will feature Denise singing and playing guitar on 10 fully produced songs she wrote and co-produced. Track 11 on her album is an acoustic, intimate, Spanish/English version of Lowen and Navarro's 80's Hit "We Belong". Denise has already received over 25,000 plays on myspace.com and she only put up her songs a little over a month ago! Denise has been compared to "Janis Joplin meets Jewel", but Denise writes and sings from her own soul. Denise is a passionate Singer/Songwriter who performs quite extensively as a solo artist for charity events (Relay For Life, Worldfest, South Central Farm Aid, Women For A Cause, World Vegan Day), as well as in some of the most respected venues worldwide including: The Cavern Club (UK), The Bitter End (NYC), Borders Bookstores (CA), The El Rey Theatre(CA), Caneel Bay (USVI) and more.

Denise was influenced by art at a very early age. Her mother was an artist. They didn't have much, but music, art and the theatre have always been a part of her life. Denise began singing from the time she could talk, dancing from the time she could walk, and writing from the time she could form a sentence. Her first experience on stage was at the age of 6 with "Mrs. Dorothy's Dance Troupe" at Lincoln Center. Throughout elementary, Denise had many opportunities to perform on stage with her chorus. In junior high, Denise performed at Avery Fisher Hall as a violinist with selected students from her class. High School was where Denise got a taste of performing as an actress which led to Denise enrolling at the Lee Strasberg Theatre Institute and at The Puerto Rican Traveling Theatre Training Unit. Being onstage is a natural place for Denise. She's performed in many Theatrical Productions (NYC), Improv Shows (NYC), which led to Feature Films (Carlito's Way, Jungle Fever, Malcolm X), TV (Law & Order, SNL, MTV,) as well as dancing in Music Videos (Kenny Chesney's "How Forever Feels").

Having grown up between New York City and the Virgin Islands, Denise proudly incorporates all of her experiences as an actress, as well as a dancer, singer, guitarist, painter, poet in her life as well as her music. She has travelled extensively living in places like Scotland, London, the US Virgin Islands, and now Los Angeles. These experiences have led Denise to be a spirit that is deep, pure and real. Her songs speak of her positive outlook of love, life and the pursuit of happiness. Denise says "My purpose is to share my life, help spread Peace, joy, love and

Material: Denise Vasquez takes the standard singer/songwriter formula and adds elements of jazz, classic rock, and a distinctly Latin flavor. This spicy blend succeeds in creating a unique and engaging sound. A songwriter with an ear for melody, Vasquez's songs are straightforward but catchy, and she employs stripped-down arrangements that suit her voice well. The inclusion of the 80's hit "We Belong" was somewhat interesting, but unnecessary given the stregnth of her original material.

Musicianship: Special mention must go to the percussionist David Leach, who uses his simple kit to evoke an Afro-Cuban sound, building dense rhythmic textures that add dimension and complexity to the otherwise simple presentation. Vasquez's strong voice is the focal point of her sound and she is a decent, if not outstanding, guitar player. Bass player Michael Paige contributes melodic, rolling bass lines and anchors down the band's sound well. Overall, this three-some are a talented bunch who play well together, providing a suitable musical backdrop for Vasquez's vocals.

Performance: Vasquez exuded warmth and confidence in the small club setting at Genghis Cohen, comfortably interacting with the audience and proving herself to be a natural performer. Leach and Paige played it cool in the background, lending an air of professionalism and experience to the performance. Though the set was short, Vasquez and company clearly won over the crowd.

Summary: Denise Vasquez is a talented young performer with a handful of really good songs in her repertoire. She has the voice to sing them and a pair of talented musicians providing a solid rhythm section behind her. Though Vasquez may be a relatively unknown artist playing small clubs in LA, she has the tools to take her career to the next level.

Denise has been receiving a great deal of press lately...Denise was just notified that she's being listed on MUSIC CONNECTION MAGAZINE HOT 100 UNSIGNED ARTIST LIST 2004...that's three years in a row! Music Connection Magazine recently mentioned Denise in their props column, here's what they wrote: "MC Showcase artist Denise Vasquez got to live out her dream. Influenced (as many artists are) by the Beatles, Vasquez recently traveled to Liverpool to see where the Fab Four grew up and played. She not only saw everything she wanted, she also got the opportunity to play the world famous CAVERN CLUB where the Beatles performed 294 times. Vasquez reports, "The place was packed, and the MC kept saying 'Los Angeles singer/songwriter Denise Vasquez is here folks, and she already has a fan base in Liverpool.' Denise initially booked & performed in Room 1 (The Beatles Stage) and was invited back to perform at the CAVERN CLUB in Room two where she opened for the winner of the Battle Of The Bands in Liverpool "BOA".

So many exciting things are happening right now! On April 13th, 2004 Music Connection Magazine invited me to open the night for their debut showcase series! Tony Ferguson from Interscope & Producer Dito Godwin (No Doubt & Many more) showed up just to see me! Music Connection Magazine recently reviewed my show with a full band at The Roxy in Los Angeles. Material: "While her overall sound could land in an alternative country market, Denise Vasquez isn't afraid to dip into folk-rock and even a little bit of reggae. Led by her songwriting talents, Vasquez shows considerable range by delivering soothing blues based numbers one minute and meditating on spacey, spoken word intros the next. Lyrically focused on reaping benefits from the here and now, Vasquez's sincerity, along with her well written melodic hooks, make any preaching a pleasant pill to swallow.

Musicianship: "Cohesive and confident, this five piece moves through the set with ease. Rio and Wolf lay down a sturdy backbone that plays in the background, though they display well honed skills when the act kicks into fifth gear. Complemented by the tasteful backup of Mora, Vasquez moves from gentle, honey-dripped vocals to gritty bar room swagger-both with assuring command. Sharing the spotlight is Blacke's exceptional fretwork, whose warm tones add glossy texture to every song.

Performance: Vasquez kicked off with two silky, mid tempo tunes before easing into the shining "Pipe Dream", which easily wrapped up her approach to countrified rock.
