Doiron personally relates that Closer was inspired by the female relationships that occurred throughout his life, focusing on the emotions involved in breaking up and getting back together. He feels very passionately about his work... more continued below
Bio / Background
“I’ve always felt very connected to the Urban/R&B contemporary rhythms.”
Born into a world of music, Demetrie Doiron first began singing and playing the drums at a very early age for his church choir. In 1987, he co-wrote his first song entitled Crazy with an up and coming R&B artist, Ryan Steele. In the early 90s, Doiron accepted an internship at Pajamas Studios as a Studio Engineer and learned much about all aspects of the industry. In his free time he made some preliminary recordings at Sound Farm, Live Oaks, and Fantasy Studios located in the Bay Area and worked diligently on bringing it all together.
Doiron established his own studio, Protection Records, in 1995 with his good friend, Marcus Gore, AKA Emgee. Together they wrote, arranged, and produced several pieces.
