Melodic/experimental instrumental guitar album. Ranging from powerful rock songs to peaceful ambient guitar songs. Has a good balance of styles that wont bore the listener.
Bio / Background
Scottish guitarist Dean McGinnes' CD The Journey Of Life is a 10 track album that has a wide variety of guitar styles that won't bore the listener, with styles ranging from heavy melodic rock to experimental and ambient.
McGinnes states,"I wanted to write an album that's enjoyable from start to finish. I like writing the rock tracks but still love writing the ambient/relaxing guitar tunes. For fans of Joe Satriani, Steve Vai, Eric Johnson, or Jeff Beck this will be up your way, but with my own style and technique that makes me different from the guitar greats.
Music is part of our life, it helps us get through events and emotional turns. The Journey Of Life is there to help you through your journey of life. Every song on the album has a purpose - happiness, sadness, friendship, death, fear, depressed, hate, love. All these sort of feelings and events happen to you and everyone, everyday. So I'm hopeful you will be able to connect and relate to my music.

Bio
It all started from listening to my dads records, back a good few years ago. Listening to the likes of Jimi Hendrix, Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, etc. The guitar stood out the most to me, the tone, musical expression and the creativity from the instrument. I was about 17 and was getting into my music a lot more and decided to pickup the guitar
As soon as I bought my guitar I started taking lessons from a very talented guitarist and teacher, Ryan Carroll. It was then I was introduced to the guitar greats, Joe Satriani, Steve Vai, Eddie Van Halen, etc. I took lessons for around 3 years, and I'm now teaching myself. From getting introduced to the guitar greats I new where I wanted my guitar technique and abilities to be at. As I got more into guitarists and instrumental music, my influences expanded to include the likes of Jeff Beck, Eric Johnson, John Petrucci, Neal Schon, Devin Townsend.
I was about 20 and I just split up from the melodic rock band Sanitas, when I was asked to join a covers band Electric Soup. Having the chance to get gigging experience, playing all around Scotland and progress on the guitar, I couldn't pass it down. I have also started teaching the guitar to a number of pupils at all levels of playing abilities.
I'm always writing and jamming with friends and talented musicians. I'm also on working on a project that's more prog rock based with the influences of Dream Theater, Tool, Devin Townsend etc. Hopefully should take off sometime soon. Later next year I will be moving down south to study music at one of the top music universities, to further my passion for the guitar.
