Bio / Background
A native of Tampa, Florida, Dayve Stewart a.k.a "The Soul Man." The emotion and energy Dayve pours into his saxophone performances along with his warm, friendly, laid back personality has made him a favorite among music fans of all ages. He started performing for audiences at the age of 12 with Sonny LaRosa and America's "Youngest Jazz Band" and continues wowing crowds at the tender age of 22.
Dayve Stewart's name and reputation are becoming increasingly familiar throughout the nation and abroad. From the Clearwater and sarasota Jazz festivals to performances as far away as Japan, Dayve has impressed audiences and musicians alike with his soul moving renditions of both contemporary and nostagic blues, jazz and pop numbers. As one of three sax players in the nation selected to attend the prestigious Vail Jazz Camp in Vail., Colorado. Dayve performed along with David "Fahead" Newman, Wycliffe Gordon and Eric Redd.

Dayve was a featured performer at the Barry Manilow post concert party at Ruth Eckerd Hall as well as performing as an open act for: Craig Chaquico at the House of Blues, Roy Ayers at Ritz Theartre. Dayve has also performed selcetions with saxophonist Kirk Whalum (Churchill Grounds) and Trumpeter Marcus Printup. Dayve has had the pleasure of sharing the stage with up and coming saxophonist Eric Darius and world renown jazz singer Dee Dee Bridgewater (Clearwater Jazz Fest). Four years in a row Dayve has taken home gold medals in the instrumental category for the NAACP annual competion. In the Summer of '01 Dayve won silver medal in the NATIONAL NAACP ACTSO competition in New Orleans. Dayve has an amazing ability to instantly blend his performance with diverse music styles with performing with top 40 and cover groups like Complete Desire and Diggin Rhythm n Brass to peforming with gospel stars: Ernest Collins, Javen Campbell, DeLeon Sheffield. Thanks to a diverse background from his mom (Cuban) and his father (Jamaican)a musician in his own right, dayve integrates musical elements from both cultures, lending a unique spiritual, yet cosmopolitan aspect to his music. Dayve's inspirations are God Almighty, his family, Oprah, Kirk Whalum, Stevie Wonder, Al Jarreau, Al Smith. Dayve's Saxophone playing have been compared to Kirk Whalum and the late Grover Washington
