If you think you've made up your mind about jazz, hold your verdict because the jury's still out. Dayna Lynn is redefining this art form for the 21st century by bridging the gap between generations: she is introducing some and reacquainting others to scat singing. Forget the hackneyed and melodramatic shoo bee doos and dwee bops that you may be accustomed to. The smooth melodic lines she weaves are enough to evoke the sweet memory of Ella Fitzgerald. Now, throw in Nina Simone's social awareness, Stevie Wonder's poetry, and the power and grace of Roberta Flack and you've just created the phenomenon which is Dayna Lynn.
Dayna Lynn's most recent project, Listening Music, boasts her skills as a writer, performer (vocals, piano, flute) and producer. The title comes from her desire to create music specifically for listening. “We live in a world of background music...music played at the store, in the club, at the movies.
