Bio / Background

Dave Coles is a Milwaukee-born songwriter who grew up listening to and imitating Run DMC, The Beastie Boys, and DJ Jazzy Jeff and the Fresh Prince. He and his friends started rapping when they were 9-year-old kids. His songs range from serious and dire to celebratory – reflecting the full range of emotions we humans experience on this planet earth. His tales take the listener on journeys – to the deep woods of northern Wisconsin, or the urban slums in his hometown, or the urban oases among these rough patches. His sharp, witty delivery brings clever lyrics that speak from his unique outlook on life.
