Editorial Reviews
”… a rare recent work that not only sounds beautiful, but also evokes emotional journeys. As a film producer, I know how hard it is to inspire emotion in an audience.
Clark Peterson, Producer of Academy Award-winning film, “Monster”
“…so wedded with her instrument that she weaves a magic spell over her audience. At the completion of each piece, there is a period of silence, almost to the point that one wonders if applause is forthcoming. Of course there is – hearty and long, almost reverential. It’s that the audience has been lost in serene reverie.”
Conway Daily Sun
"... simply the most impressive work of composition and performance I have heard from a pianist in twenty years. That the music connects on such a deep emotional level and is so accessible only makes it more remarkable."
Will Ackerman, Founder of Windham Hill
“Deeply emotional and full of grace, Cunningham’s music exudes warmth and calm. A gorgeous collection of original pieces and improvisations that create a setting for contemplation and presence….excellent from start to finish. It is sure to be one of my favorite CDs for 2007!”
Solo Piano Publications
“There is a directness of purpose and communication in Cunningham’s technique… she gets to the heart of her compositions to create soulful moments rich in feeling and contemplation.”
Stereo Times
“Very rare is the musician whose music can create a sense of quiet and peace.”

The Color of Lightscout wrote on July 12, 2007
Dana Cunningham is obviously a classically-trained pianist. The good news is her new CD, The Color of Light, does not stand on a classical pedestal looking down on the listener.Instead Cunningham has a way of inviting the listener up to her level to enjoy an eclectic view of the landscape she paints. Think kalidoscope. She hands over her view of things and lets you look into a sparkling vision of what she sees. Several cuts deserve repeated listening, among them: The Color of Light, Flowers in the Dark, Swimming With Stones, and Angels at Shady Grove. When it comes to this style of music, words just don't come close to serving justice. You just have to be there. And it's worth purchasing the entire recording. Like any good work...you can't have just one....you have to have the whole thing!
