Clarksdale by Daddy Rich

Rich got expelled from Northwest Community College in 2000, went over $7,000 in debt after a counterfeit money order mix-up at First National Bank in Clarksdale, MS, (whick he plans to own someday and turn the place into a bowling alley), and had a brush with death when a tree fell on top of his car during a storm in mid 2006, totaling his ride and nearly totaling him as well. Let's just say that this man had the blues (to put it mildly).

Nevertheless, Rich was up and running just days after the wreck. He luckily escaped with only a broken sternum and whiplash. A week later he found himself on a plane to Washington, D.C. to perform with James "Super Chikan" Johnson at the Kennedy Center and the Library of Congress.

Rich earned himself a spot in "The Fighting Cocks" playing bass for "Chikan" in mid 2005 after meeting him in a local guitar shop called "Bluestown Music" and has been to Italy and toured much of the USA with him since.

"Pay Your Dues", Daddy Rich's debut album, was independently released in late 2005. The album received radio airplay and spawned a short Canadian tour in 2006, including dates at the "Maximum Blues" festival in Carleton, Quebec and "Festiblues" in Montreal.

Recently, Daddy Rich has pioneered a new style of music which he likes to call: "Delta Music & Hip Blues". (hear it at www.daddyrich.net)

This music incorporates traditional acoustic blues slide guitar licks with soulful vocals and is backed by hip hop and techno groove beats and bass. "There is something for everyone of all ages to enjoy in this new style." (says Rich) "People who like the blues will love the new material; and people who have never been exposed to the blues will be turned into fanatics. I'm trying to bridge the gap between us all with my new album, 'Clarksdale'. " (released in early 2007)

Rich plays with his 3 piece band which features Eric Fowler (owner of Studio 61 Recording www.studio61.com) on drums and blues museum program graduate, Jeremie Horton, on bass. Check these guys out on the live DVD.
