Orchestral Fusion: A setting of two cellos, violin, bass violin, keys, drums, electric guitar w/ influences ranging from Pink Floyd and Miles Davis to Bartok and Stravinsky.
Bio / Background
It is with this band that I began to hone my compositional technique, fusing the symphonic world with that of progressive rock and jazz. The orchestrated settings ranged from a trio comprised of guitar, keys and drums to the much larger setting of two cellos, violin, double bass, keys/piano, guitar, and drums. My influences span many genres and include composers such as Rimsky-Korsokov, Prokoviev, Bartok, Zappa, Piazzolla and Miles Davis, as well as collaborative composers such as Pink Floyd and Radiohead. I received Bachelors of the Arts degrees in both Music and Religious Studies in 2004.
Generally speaking I am a misanthrope who traps furs and hunts critters for food and fun. My pent up anger and frustration with normative society is expressed in much of my music. I subsidize my musical ventures with the income I earn from working as a trail crew member in the summer. I have spent a great deal time in the wilderness areas of Montana, Oregon, Idaho and Alaska.
