Seattle based Creeping Time plays original acoustic grassrock. A unique arrangement of upright bass, fiddle, guitar, mandolin & drums that sounds a bit like Bill Monroe, Doc Watson, & Vassar Clements jamming with Phish, Steve Earle and the Ramones.
Bio / Background
Creeping Time introduces their fourth LP, Cheap American Lager. Their new music is one-of-a-kind, original acoustic grassrock, uniquely Creeping Time. The songs on Cheap American Lager invite you to reflect on life, love and politics through a wild musical ride; but they always help you land safely, longing for more.
From the first fiddle notes of the first track, “I’d Be King”, it is clear that Creeping Time pays tribute to each others talents, the road and the people they meet along the way. T speaks to the universal longings for love and provides stories and melodies that make your feet tap. As the album continues with “Gone” it reflects on being true to oneself and having the courage to move on.
“Miscommunication”, track 6, is a song about the struggle to communicate. If you’ve been in a similar situation, you’ll understand “Miscommunication” clearly.
↓ more ↓As the album progresses through various stories and numerous instrumentals, “Road Song” pays tribute to open-air and freedom of being on the road when we hit “Cheap American Lager”. The song Cheap American Lager is a celebration of friendship and sums up the entire album beautifully.. When their friends join in at the end, the album ends in laughter and you can’t help but to smile and feel blessed.
Seattle-based Creeping Time has been entertaining audiences throughout the Pacific Northwest since 1997. Originally an “acoustic power trio,” Creeping Time has grown into a tight quartet, a unique ensemble that is completely organic. They call to mind Bill Monroe, Doc Watson and Vassar Clements jamming with Phish, Steve Earle and the Ramones, spanning the gap between your grandfathers bluegrass and modern rocket science. Featuring Ken Nottingham on upright bass, Dave Forrester on drums, Kjell Anderson on fiddle and Michael Spaly on guitar and mandolin - “Like a cup of coffee with a shot of something stiff.”
