Bio / Background
Born in Long Beach, California in 1981, Chris Cox was exposed to a wide variety of musical styles from an early age. Those influences, leaning heavily on the likes of James Taylor and Billy Joel, mixed with the contemporary styles of John Mayer, Gavin DeGraw, Marc Broussard, Edwin McCain come together in a soulful, emotive singer songwriter that fuses the passion of rock and the smoothness of motown into one.
After years of honing his songwriting and performance skills as singer and guitar player in a number of Southern California bands, Chris went solo in November of 2004 with the release of Terror And Craving. Now, touring to support that release, Chris is playing shows up and down the West Coast, from San Diego up into Canada. Having played many of the clubs on the Sunset Strip, and "a million coffee shops", Chris is hoping to strengthen his fan base and garner some exposure beyond the Los Angeles and Orange County lines.
↓ more ↓With the help of a couple of long-time friends, Chris is travelling with a trimmed down power trio to bring an intimate feel to these new audiences. While fans of more produced musical outings will appreciate these same songs on the disc, Terror And Craving, the live show features slight departures from the 5 and 6-member band and brings listeners in closer to the message of the music. The polish-and-shine of the Southern California music scene comes through but listeners will also hear echoes of Austin, Detroit, and New York in this show. All fans of music will find something to appreciate in these performances and Chris Cox aims to please.
