Mike Mann presents Cowboy Soul by Cowboy Soul

Bad Guys was a song that seemed to grab me and make me sing, I know I scared the hell out of the deer in the trees around me!

Getting back to their country roots with We Love Country Music, nice tune this one! Back Here was a great singing cowboy story about a cow slick that gets hooked on a jazz girl. You could call this one a good country R&B with a jazz backdrop. I had hit the 4 way and was going down hill when That's Life started rocking my ride, at 20 mph down a single track in the middle of the large pines.

I was wasted by the time I hit the top of the loop and was heading back down to the car, but the music kept me alive and going strong. This is a very good CD for anyone that wants their country with more Groove Power!

Some names say it all. You hear it once, and you understand everything. This applies to the band COWBOY SOUL. It sounds like an oxymoron. The two words seem to have nothing in common with each other, at least in the terms of the overall marketing of country and western music. COWBOY SOUL is a band with a sound that get's just about everyone's foot tapping. In an age where arguably the best rapper out there is a white guy from Detroit, MIKE MANN and his band of rockin' cowboys challenge the notion that a country artists are only of the blonde-blue-eyed stock. COWBOYS SOUL has arrived and their message is two-fold; Country Music is for everyone and "Let's have a good time!"

This is not your run of the mill boot and hat country music, Cowboy Soul's music has groove! I took this music with me on a 12 mile ride up the Great Western Trail to the 157 Trail, this is a good hour climb up through the trees to the ridge. So first thing the music has to be able to hang with you, Cowboy Soul can do more than hang, it can groove! I was cranking out the pedal up through the deep pines into the aspen trees in the meadows at about 9,000 feet. The groove in my ears was doing it's thing on me, this is nice music to ride to.

The first song The Weight rocks! Right from the start this songs groovy sound has you bouncing on the saddle with a smile on your face. The next song Mine Tonight starts with Mike telling a story of this type of country music, but soon becomes a good mix of groove and country soul. You will like this song! Elvis move your ass over! Feel Somthin' had that great Elvis sound mixed with the this groovy soul. One would think that an all-black country band would be a gimmick in itself, but there are no gimmickes here. It's great music that's gonna get everyone excited about hopping onto a pick-up truck, drinking beer, two-stepping and slowdancing 'till dawn.
