Full of startling twists and turns, this super-catchy four-piece rock band combines show-stopping harmonies with the unpredictability of good jazz. Boundaries and genres are defied, defined and deep fried throughout this innovative pop record.
Bio / Background
Their fourth record, their most recent release. If you want to know what the Giggle is up to these days, this is your best clue.
All the basic tracks (piano, bass and drums) were recorded on two inch tape at Private Island Trax with Mark V in an effort to recapture the warmth of Holy Madness. Then it was dumped onto a hard drive and all the overdubs were done at Tom's apartment on Pro Tools.
This is a fun record. A breath of fresh air after the super-serious "Take the Leap". The songs are generally punchy and to the point. There's all kinds of catchy harmonies and twiddly melodies to lose yourself in.
This is bouncy, weavy, unpredictable rock that angles into jazz territory but stays anchored by its allegiance to pop. Instantly familiar and yet entirely unconventional, the Giggle's corkscrewy songs stay tenuously held together by the soulful, playful baritone of songsmith Tom Jackson. Lyrically, big themes are tackled, but always with a keen sense of the absurd. It's silly.
↓ more ↓It's edgy. It's unlike anything else. And it's the best thing that has ever happened. Period.
