Mostly boogie-woogie. Played like I play it. And other good stuff, too.
Bio / Background
About this time I was into boogie-woogie piano. In the ratings of my favorite musical styles it's right up there. I was listening to it when most people my age were listening to the Beatles. I listened to people like Pete Johnson, Oscar Peterson and Hannes Jaric, and I had to have a crack at it. I can't improve on those guys playing, but here's how the boogie-woogie sounds through me. Many of the songs are intended to be danceable, incorporating the boogie-woogie style into my own version of, I suppose I would call it something like, "classic rock," which is about as danceable as it gets.
I included a number of songs in some other styles to provide a little variety.
↓ more ↓A previous version of this CD had a lot more variety and I replaced some of those songs thinking that it was a good idea to make it a little more along a theme, but I now opt for the variety method, and so I put a number of those elimated songs on my next CD, "Parts Unknown," because they were good songs and represented part of my musical past, and no sense to leave them sitting around in my computer. And besides, coming from a different musical era, they sound good mixed with my new stuff, which is still changing as I experiment with new equipment and styles. At this writing I've moved from a basic three-part, folk-style format into a more high-tech, drum-machine kind of thing that will probably show up soon on a future CD, maybe with a label of hip-hot or house on some of the songs. That's how things change.
And hey, if you don't like this album, it's okay. My other albums are all different. Give them a listen. I'm sure you'll find something you like. Thanks.
