Literate, personal songs delivered without sweetening or artiface. Ballsy, a layered but unified vision that wears its alt-country roots loosely.
Bio / Background
Chuck spent many years in the shadow of other writers as a Bassist for Lisa Hayes, The Violets and most recently Gingersol, all the while writing songs constantly. Buying a decent acoustic guitar and starting as a solo artist in 1995 in Portland Oregon, he took all opportunities to play out, while maintaining a full schedule as a bandmember. Band work took him to Nashville, Tennessee for a couple of years, then full circle back to his hometown of Los Angeles.
Chuck loved the bandmember experience, contributing the "X-factor" to someone elses composition had always been a satisfying task, but fans of his solo work consistently encouraged him to make the break. Solo writing has enabled him to return to his first love, more folk and country based songs and instumentation.
↓ more ↓Putting an end to his own sideman/bandmember status, Chuck left Gingersol in 2001 after recording their most recent album "The train wreck is behind you" and recorded his first solo album "Pooks Road", released in January, 2003. The record has been selling and earning good reviews so far.
