Bio / Background
Clara Lofaro, Winner of Indie Week Toronto 2006, is destined to become a household name as the buzz spreads about her music in the U.S. and Canada, with a charging fan base in her twin home towns of Toronto and New York City. “Influenced by artists such as Annie Lennox, Patty Griffin and Bill Withers, Lofaro’s music is hard to pigeonhole, and blends several genres including soul, rock and jazz. Her songs are laced with soulful grooves, and her vocals ooze with both vulnerability and defiance.” - Amanda B. Haupt, METRO TORONTO
Lofaro now runs her own independent label, ComeTrue Records, Inc., under which she released her self-produced sophomore masterpiece, Black & Blue Pearl, a top-seller on CD Baby. It is currently spinning on WLIR commercial radio and college radio across the Northeast. “One True Thing” was recently chosen as “#1 Song of the Year” for 2006 on Ithaca’s 106 VIC Radio by listener poll.
