Bio / Background
I am one of five children who grew up in Sauk Centre, a small rural town in north-central Minnesota. My pursuit of music began at an early age in the second grade when I was asked to sing a solo in the Holy Family School Christmas pageant. During the summer after my sixth grade, I starred as Oliver in the Oliver musical in the neighboring town of Melrose. Music continued to play a large role in my life throughout high school, singing in the church and the school choir, as well as competing in vocal competitions in Sr. High School. In 2000, my junior year of high school, I was selected to join the Great Lakes Ambassadors, a group of over 200 Minnesota top musical students, for the European Concert Tour where we performed in seven countries.
After starting college, I took a hiatus from music so I could work three jobs to pay for college. If there was any spare time during college years, I spent it singing Karaoke at some of the local establishments.
↓ more ↓Once graduated from College and in a Radiation Therapist position, I was free to pursue music once again.
In 2005 and 2006, I competed in the Colgate Country Music Contest. The first year, I made it to the local finals. The second year I went considerably further, making it to the Regions. The Colgate contest opened many doors for me. It connected me with an agent from the Twin Cities who, in turn, connected me with two bands as their lead singer. One of those bands is my current band, Savannah-- a group of very talented people!
Another door that was opened through the Colgate contest was with Wild Country 99 from St. Cloud, MN. Wild Country 99 was the sponsor for the Colgate contest for my local area. Through them, I was connected with opportunities to open for some national acts. The night that I opened for Gary Nichols became a turning point for me. It was Gary’s encouragement to pursue a record, and the wonderful fans from that evening that provided the encouragement that I needed to head down the path of recording the CD “Who She Ain’t”.
I am forever grateful for the wonderful support of family, friends, and dedicated fans who continue to inspire me. You are the reason that I get up on stage and love doing what I do!
