Veteran guitar-player with good track record crafts his songs for the discerning ear - rootsy rock with dashes of funk, country and whatever else takes my fancy
Bio / Background
Chris Chesney is a guitarist/songwriter veteran of many a campain, with a soulful vocal style and is a far-reaching guitar interpreter.
This album is his second solo effort. Chris has appeared on vynil on Twink's "Psychedelic Punkaroo" and "Space Lover" for Chiswick records.
In the late 60's Chris appeared with 'Sour Milk Sea' at venues such as the Rikky-tik (Eel Pie Island) and the Temple (ex-Flamingo) supporting major acts like deep Purple and others. Simon Stable, underground dj of the time compared the band to Iggy Pop's Stooges.
Chris performed with legendary Philadelphia psychedelic pop pioneers 'Mandrake' (ex-Mandrake memorial) in the early 70's,
His career is partially documented in "The Queen Story" and "Queen - The Early Years" by Mark Hodgkinson
He has been on the road with legends such as Percy Sledge, Ben E King, Dorothy Moore and Eddie (Knock on Wood) Floyd.
↓ more ↓He kicked ass with originals bands in London, finally winding up in LA in the early 80's with Art Thieves, regular favourites on Sunset strip at the Whisky a-go-go, Troubadour and other legendary venues.
Chris coached an embryonic Sex Pistols in the arcane arts of The Who and Small Faces tunes, at Malolm McClaren's request. After performing this vital public service he went on to play with some of the leading lights of the punk era including Billy Idol.
He has toured Europe and lived and played in many US cities - including Los Angeles, New York and Philadelphia.
Chris is currently living in London and is a great admirer of Jimi Hendrix, Prince, Ry Cooder, Early Traffic. He loves the psychedelic era and the music of the sixties.
Chris has completed album number 2, 'Beat Hotel' for which he has chosen a wider set of idioms than 'Blue Like You', - this one's funkier, smoother and more pop.
However, he is extremely proud of his first cd and - if you like bluesy, soulful Rock and Roll, you must hear Blue Like You' as well.
