Presenting: CELLULOID. This is a killer album. If Cui Jian was the granddaddy of Chinese Rock, we would be so bold as to say that Celluloid, a Taiwan-based band, may be the "inventor" of Chinese Blues. (All songs in Mandarin Chinese.)
Bio / Background
Every track on the CD is well arranged: the lyrics are simple but meaningful, and the songs are powerful. Even if you do not speak Mandarin, you will find hints of some of the blues masters emerging (Peter Green, BB King, Roy Buchanan to name a few...).
Warning: This CD is addictive. You will find yourself humming the haunting verses for weeks.
