Fuzzy indie rock from Denver, Colorado, RIYL: Trembling Blue Stars, Stratford 4, or Galaxie 500.
Bio / Background
CAT-A-TAC came together in the fall of 2003, sparked by a mutual love of shoegaze, spacey indie rock, and vintage gear. Jim, Andy, and Connor were roommates at the University of Colorado. Warren is the brother of another classmate. Informal basement noisemaking and home demos slowly evolved into a band, with the debut show taking place in Denver on October 8, 2003.
2004 saw the band beginning to find its identity and a comfortable niche in Denver's indie scene. Local press and opening slots for nationals like The Deathray Davies and The Rosebuds, and things started to come together.
2005 began with a tour of the west coast, some more press, and more choice opening slots for Rogue Wave, Lou Barlow, The Wedding Present, Jesse Sykes, and others.
The debut EP was released to college radio on Aug. 9, 2005. It was #11 on CMJ's Top 20 Adds chart that day, and debuted on CMJ's Top 200 the following week.
↓ more ↓The EP reached #98 on the Top 200 and stayed on the charts for seven weeks.
