Casey Desmond is a singer/ songwriter/ guitarist whose material is a blend of soulful rock/folk melodies, soaring harmonies, provoking lyrics, and deep rocking guitars. Her songs reflect a thoughtfulness and maturity far beyond her 19 years.
Editorial review
Boston-based teenage singer/songwriter Casey Desmond is the daughter of a pair of local noise rock legends who front the performance art freakout collective the Bentmen. However, in much the same way that Dweezil Zappa's pop-metal never had that much to do with his dad's knotty blend of cerebral art and knob jokes, Casey Desmond's own music is unapologetically commercial pop. A pretty redhead who looks like a fashion-updated version of Claire Danes circa My So-Called Life, Desmond makes a kind of approachable but not overly slick semi-alternative pop for teenage girls who are too cool for Kelly Clarkson but not cool enough for Feist: the guitars are fully amped-up, and Desmond sings her folk-rock-based songs with enough spunk that "Taste It" sounds more like Juliana Hatfield than Jewel and the harder-rocking "Sorry Ain't Enough" comes across like Melissa Etheridge with a less sandpapery voice. A few writing sessions with a seasoned production/writing team and Casey Desmond could easily make a commercial pop record as good as Liz Phair's post-millennium work; whether she has anything deeper in her is a question unanswered by this entirely charming but lightweight debut. ~ Stewart Mason, All Music Guide

Biography
Raised in a musical family, she first appeared on a recording at age three with her parents' band, the legendary and notorious BENTMEN. She grew up performing in front of audiences, singing, acting, and dancing in musical theater. She sang a duet of "Tip-Toe Through the Tulips" with Tiny Tim at age 10, and was encouraged by him to pursue a career as a vocalist.
By age 14 she had taught herself to play guitar, keys and bass and formed a band with her schoolmates in which she was the lead vocalist/ bass player and songwriter for "Adore".
The band recorded a CD of Casey's material which received local airplay on college radio. She then concentrated on a solo career, released her second CD of acoustic melodies (which was also recorded while she was 14), and began performing at clubs and coffee houses throughout New England.
↓ more ↓In her spare time she is an honor student and merit scholar at the Art Institute of Boston @ Lesley University.
Her newest CD of pop/rock/folk material was recorded at Taylor Barefoot studios and Imaginary Road Studios with Taylor Barefoot engineering, as well as at Q Division with Mike Denneen and Tom Polce and at Fig Studios in LA with Bryan Kerrigan and Chris Fogel mixing is scheduled for
release on Sept 14,2005.
She is joined in the studio by such luminaries as Grammy Award-winning guitarist Will Ackerman,(with whom she co-wrote one of the tracks on her new CD) legendary bassist Tony Levin (Peter Gabriel, King Crimson) and Mike Levesque (David Bowie, Natalie Imbruglia) on drums.
Casey is now available for solo or full band performances.
