the perfect blend between progressive and pop, between now and then - the in between record. If your looking for wonderful melodies - it´s there. Excellent compositions and arrangement? It´s there.
Bio / Background
"Carptree plays some sort of melancholic, laid back and delightful symphonic pop with a large amount of originality and accuracy. If i was asked to describe them i had to say they partly sound familliar to another Swedish duo called Dive. Mix a little bit of them with Hogarth era Marillion albums like Brave and Afraid Of Sunlight and ad some pinches of Talk Talk (Laughing Stock era) and maybe a little portion of the more progresive side of David Sylvian!
The above may sound like a strange combination, but with a unique band like Carptree it really comes to reality! All songs are very well performed and are presented with a tasteful production and brilliant vocals. Don´t be afraid to try them out cause with songs like Ten Days Of Rain, Give Myself Away, Looking For Something and Tiny Salty Drops you can´t be disappointed.
Carptree is a band people will talk about, so be sure you know what the people are talking about..."

If it's Swedish and has anything to do with melodic rock, it's bound to be good. A golden rule that certainly applies to Carptree. A "perfect blend between progressive and pop" (rock) indeed sums it up nicely. (And yep, they DO sound a bit like Dive's more adventurous and ambitious neo-prog equivalent.) I especially love those mellow lead vocals and the trademark subtlety of the keyboard/piano part of the equation. 'Ten Days Of Rain' for me is the standout cut. PS: I prefer this one over the slightly darker and more elaborate follow-up 'Superhero'.
