Bio / Background
Carlos Jimenez - Flutist, Composer, Arranger, and Producer of Arriving and El Flautista.
Carlos Jimenez,a Yonkers, New York Native Latin Jazz flautist, composer, arranger, and producer recorded his first CD at age 27. Jimenez started on trumpet at age 4, then he switch to flute at age 10. Jimenez' first music teacher was Mr. Pablo Leon at the Francisco Zayas Santana’s High School in Puerto Rico. After arriving to NY in 1995, Jimenez studied flute with; Mitch Frohman, Mario Rivera, Bobby Porcelli, Dave Valentin, Vinny Rikitelli, and Dave Fenucane at the Westchester Conservatory of Music. Jimenez then studied piano with the great; Hilton Ruiz, Sonny Bravo, Mike Longo, and Barry Harris., When Jimenez met, pianist composer, arranger, conductor, and once Dizzy Gilespie's musical director, Mr. Mike Longo, his piano teacher, and friend for more than 3 years was when Mr. Jimenez' theory and musical ideas expanded.
↓ more ↓Hilton Ruiz has performed with Jimenez and Jimenez with Hilton's Latin Jazz All Stars. Later on in 2004 was when Jimenez invited Hilton Ruiz to performed with him at Zuppa Jazz Club in Yonkers and Jimenez and Ruiz rehearsed before playing that particular night and Hilton had said that Jimenez composition " Tunnel of Flowers" was a beautiful song and that impressed him. Jimenez and Ruiz decided to record the song and they recorded a full CD that was release January 25, 2005. The CD was titled, "Arriving" under Jimenez' own label CJMartinete Music Co. Jimenez has performed at; Gypsy Bar, Borgata Hotel Atlantic City NJ, Gotham Hall New York City NY, Time Square, Local 802 Union New York City NY, Marcus Garvie Park, Harlem Harlem NY, White Plains Performing Arts Center White Plains NY USA , CBGB's New York NY USA, Westchester Arts Council White Plains NY USA, Untermyer Park Yonkers NY USA, ST. Peters Church NY NY, Pernod Recard USA Purchase NY. Jimenez has two recordings; Arriving 2005 and El Flautista 2006. Has recorded with; Hilton Ruiz, Dave Valentin, Bobby Porcelli, Lewis Kahn, David Braham, Chembo Corniel, Gregg August, Geoff Brennan, John Walsh, Aryam Vazquez, Adam Weber, and Jimenez' brother Guillermo Jimenez. Has performed with; Barry Harris, Hilton Ruiz, Hector Magtinon, Victor Venegas, Manny Duran, Sonny Bravo, Jimmy Delgado, James Taylor, Dick Griffin, Chembo Corniel, Bobby Sanabria, Chico Freeman, Ruben Rodriguez, Michael Mossman, John Walsh, Joe Santiago, Greg August, Reynaldo Jorge, Richie Flores, Eddie Allen, Dave Braham, Adela Dalto, Bernie Minoso, John Benitez, Harvie S, and Jimenez great friendship with Tito Puente led him to perform one song "Azu Ki Ki", live at the Blue Note and the same with Ray Barretto "Cocinando Suave" live at the Iridium.
