Once in a great while a superb poet who knows how to compose and deliver exceptional music comes onto the music scene. What Cameron Russell delivers in "Yesterdaydreamer", his first solo album, cannot have been learned in just 19 years of life. Most aspiring artists will never learn to produce the same caliber of music that Cameron already has - even over the course of a lifetime. Cameron's talent is a gift of birth.
Many attempt to create art but few can be considered by other professionals to be genuine artists. In reality, there are only a small number of genuine artists who are truly innovative in their expression. These few are the ones who make their own distinct mark within their chosen genre.
It is too early in Cameron's music career to accurately estimate the full measure of his capacity for innovation and future distinction. However, it is clearly demonstrative with this new album, as well as through his prior work, that he is a genuine artist.
