Gothic Hard Rock with haunting, soaring female vocals, heavy guitars, moody keys and prog-leaning arrangements.
Bio / Background
On their debut release Eternally, Portland Maine's By Blood Alone bring forth heavy goth-rock for a diverse set of moods, blending haunting female vocals, classic horror movie keyboards and prog-tinged power metal guitar riffs. While definitely dark, they step forward without adhering to genre cliches of depression, darkness and decay. It Magazine's Matt Morris said of By Blood Alone: "It's about the romanticism and drama of tragedy. By Blood Alone comes through as the small orchestra in the pit of a contemporary theater tragedy."
Eternally was recorded in the winter of 2005 and released that same summer. The music press in New England has been quite vocal in their praise of this new band's first CD, yet with a diverse set of analogies. The Portland Phoenix wrote "The product as a whole might remind you of what the B-52s would sound like if they penned an album right after all their dogs died in a freak electrical storm", while others compare the band to November's Doom and Draconian.
