Bio / Background
Take a nautical, musical journey through the songs of Bruce Myers on his debut CD, "Stinkpot & Rags." The recording begins with the track, “Departure,” the sounds of a sailboat slicing through the water, gulls and bell-buoys in the background. From there until the last track, “Return,” (which mimics track one,) the songs vary in style and genres but all share a boating/sailing lifestyle theme. Whether you love boating, good music or both this CD is a must have from one of America’s best songwriters.
Bruce spent much of his youth either on boats or on the shores of the Chesapeake Bay. He started writing at an early age and in his teens he began combining his words to the music that he was composing on both the piano and the guitar. In his early 20's he set out on the road in a school bus he converted into a camper and spent a number of years traveling around the country performing his songs in any tavern or coffeehouse that would have him.
↓ more ↓The many out of the ordinary situations and characters that he encountered during those years give him an insight into life that few people possess and this unique combination of adventurous spirit, creativity and individualism is reflected in his songs. Eventually Bruce returned to the Chesapeake Bay area and re-discovered his love of boating, sailing and just being out on the water. With that in mind it was only natural that he would combine that love with his love for playing music and songwriting and he soon found that he had an audience at the waterfront venues and marinas requesting his original material. Folks were asking for CD’s and so he decided to go with the flow and record something geared toward the following he had developed. The result is his much-appreciated debut CD entitled, "Stinkpot & Rags." Order yours today!!
