Experimental Folk Rock
Bio / Background
Brooks’ music is unique in the sense that it can be labeled and viewed as many different genres. When setting out to write a song, and when performed live, his music is easy listening, intellectual acoustic folk rock with performative lyrics. However, once Brooks is in the studio he takes these songs and adds a more electronic and experimental sound by adding in soundbites and playing drums, bass, and keys.
Brooks has been writing music ever since he learned to play guitar, and continues to collaborate and learn with his peers. With inspirations coming from artists such as John Frusciante, Jeff Buckley, Sufjan Stevens, Ben Lee, and Adem, Brooks aspires to become known as a prominent singer/songwriter around Boston where he goes to school and in Connecticut where he lives.
