Bio / Background
"With the miles ahead and miles behind me, I will go where my soul can find me. The only way I know, down an Untraveled Road." --Brigitte London
Brigitte London doesn't need to do anything other than write about her life to come up with songs better than anything being written in Nashville. A real-deal country singer, London has an awesome voice, an all-star band and a powerhouse album." — San Antonio Express-News.
"Untraveled Road is Brigitte's second release, after her strong 2000 debut Modern Day Mae West. Brigitte has a voice that's full of clarity, warmth, honesty, and power. Her style of country is primarily honky tonk- from barroom weepers of heartbreak to rousing shuffles of being done wrong. She writes her own songs that are strong, intelligent and draw on powerful imagery.
↓ more ↓Armed with the gift of being a great songwriter, and one powerful voice that emotes every aspect of emotion with amazing ease, I expect we'll be hearing more great things from Brigitte London for some time to come." -Take Country Back Magazine
Brigitte London is known for her powerful voice, direct songwriting that is filled with colorful imagery, and her "take no prisoners" stage presence. Upon her arrival in the Austin, Texas music scene in 1997, London immediately established herself with her reputation for playing with only the "best of the best," citing many local legends as band members. Her contradictory lady-outlaw attitude and soulful sweetness captivated audiences and made her a crowd favorite. She received critical acclaim for her Texas recordings, UNTRAVELED ROAD and MODERN DAY MAE WEST. London has recently relocated to Nashville, and is dedicated to evolving as an Artist.
In her own words:
"Music is my life. Always has been and always will be. I love it. Even when I hate it, I love it. I am part gypsy, part hippie, part poker-playing Buddha. I love real rootsy country, gritty blues, lots of soul, and great rock and roll. I especially love bands that combine all of those genres. The best day of my entire life happened this year when I got to record a Waylon Jennings song with original Waylon members Richie Albright, Fred Newell and Bee Spears. It's all gravy after that.
Like everyone else, I've had quite a life story,(a rough one but that's over now), all of which can be found in the songs I write. I was born in Wisconsin and started playing in bands at 14, left home early and traveled around discovering who I was, and who I wanted to be. I've had the pleasure of performing with some of the best pickers around, especially in Austin, where I lived for almost 10 years. Just recently moved to Tennessee and I like it here as well. I'm most at home on the road, or in a cabin in the mountains. Or singing anywhere.
The rest is just history, so why bring it up now? I sincerely thank you for your interest in my music, as I give it with my guts, heart and soul."
