Bio / Background
Jam band Brian McLoughlin Band (BMB) is comprised of Brian McLoughlin vocals/acoustic guitar, Joe Serin/guitar, Don Kirchenbauer/bass and Brian Trainor/drums, percussion, background vocals. Formed in northeast Pennsylvania in March 2005 they have been building a loyal following over the past 2 years with their dynamic live shows and the release of their independent debut album blur.
In April 2005, the BMB locked themselves inside mudcut studios in Dingman's Ferry, PA and emerged two weeks later with an album entitled blur which was released in July of 2005. The band produces alot of enthusiasm on stage and while it is difficult to duplicate that energy of a live show in a sterile studio environment the band proves nothing is impossible. They have no fear either when it comes to throwing disparate musical genres together on a single album.
↓ more ↓The opening track "Wrapped Up In Blue" shows the influence of the Grateful Dead, they delve into southern rock Allman Brothers style with dueling slide guitars on "Northern Lights", "Soaking In The Sunshine" creates that island calypso feel and "Hold On" an all acoustic track brings on home with a rootsy bluegrass feel. The album continues to recieve strong radio airplay on NPR & college radio stations nationwide and has been hailed as one of the top 100 albums of 2005 by Upstage Radio & Magazine.
Special guests on the album include James "Sunny Jim" White, reknowned steel drum performer, maybe you saw him in the Tom Cruise movie "The Firm". Mike Lawlor winner of the Guitarmaggedon 2000 competition - best amatuer guitar player in the US. Mandolin and fiddle player Dan O'Dea of the Otters. Others up and coming local NJ musicians like Carl Ferriere, Erik Walthman, Geoff Greulich, Brian Fitzgerald & Brian Lawlor.
This is a great live band definetly worth checking out, performing primarily their original material, occasionally slipping into some Grateful Dead, Widespread Panic, Phish, String Cheese Incident & Allman Borthers.
