Bio / Background
In just months, Sara Brenner and her band have established themselves as a musical force throughout Manhattan and Long Island hotspots.
Sara grew up on the Island, and her family quickly discovered her natural inclination to music. She was playing her first cover tune, "Call Me" by Blondie, at the age of four. By seven, with just a year of piano lessons under her belt, she had already developed a vast repertoire of tunes, and started writing her own. Sara had a chronic case of shyness, however, and very few people were aware of her musical abilities. She picked up the bass guitar, and played in a number of bands in high school and college as a bass player, in the background, where she was most comfortable. All the while, Sara was writing and playing her own unique songs...shared only with family and close friends.
Her piano playing developed into a style reminiscent of another Long Islander, Billy Joel.

Backed by a three piece band made up of area club and studio veterans, Sara's set covers a diverse range of material, from the bittersweet "For Now" to the powerfully poignant "Worthy" to the house-rocking "Curious."
With a backup band in place, Sara quickly became a local regular, developing a loyal and fanatical following who have packed Manhattan's Bitter End and Baggot Inn. With the long-anticipated release of her independent debut CD, Unsteady Ground, Sara is looking to hit the road and continue building a fan base outside of New York.
