A collection of some of our favorite and most often played traditional instrumentals. You will fall in love with the haunting sound of the uilleann pipes, the lively toe-tapping rhythm of the Celtic fiddle, and the driving rhythm of the guitar.
Bio / Background
If you have ever made the journey to Ireland or Scotland you will be
familiar with the celtic tradition of music sessions. In ancient days,
friends and family would gather in thatched roof homes with flagstone
floors and play music, sing, dance and tell stories through the night. This
home was often called a Ceili house. Friends would congregate by the
fireplace or in the kitchen and would spend time supporting each other.
This tradition helped the town people to forget about the sometimes
harsh life conditions and to celebrate life.
The Blair Band’s new CD “Celtic Sessions” captures the warmth and
gaiety of that tradition. “Celtic Sessions” is an all acoustic instrumental compilation CD featuring guest celtic fiddlers Bill Verdier and Cait Reed along with the Blair Band members. Seven of the thirteen tracks were
collected from the three CD recording “Song of the Piper” which The Ric Blair
Band produced for Martingale Records.
↓ more ↓“The Glasgow Reel” is a
brand new recording featuring the passionate fiddling of Kim Haller
with Ric Blair on acoustic guitar. The remaining six tracks were
collected from earlier recordings of the Ric Blair Band.
So, if you enjoy The Ric Blair Band’s instrumental selections, you
will not want to be without this CD.

The Blair Band is a fantastic instrumental group, as this recording demonstrates. A great collection of tunes that you will want to listen to repeatedly. They are great musicians, and some really neat people as well. You'll enjoy this.
