Bio / Background
Recalling bands such as The Afghan Whigs, Led Zeppelin, Shiner, and The Jesus Lizard with wide-ranging influences from punk and metal to blues and country, The Bismarck is a horse to be reckoned with.
Formed from the ashes of the legendary but shamefully unknown hardcore band Brown, The Bismarck have slowly but surely been making a strong impression on the local music scene since their formation in 1999. Combining bold and original rhythms with an innovative melodic approach, The Bismarck create a strikingly original brand of rock music.
Though the band initially started as an instrumental trio, guitarist Dave Ward eventually began writing lyrics and singing after many fruitless attempts at finding a vocalist who fit the bands sound and creative direction. Ward and drummer Jesse Sherman have created music together since high school, amassing a shared history of almost fifteen years.
