Bio / Background
Billy Webb and Roger Batin form the artistic and creative force of the Billy Webb Band. They work as family practitioners at an L.A. area hospital. By chance, they discovered one another's passion for music. One day Billy, already an established musician on the local scene, overheard Roger playing guitar in his office and invited him to jam.
From that point on, a musical friendship was forged. Soon Billy and Roger began writing music during their lunch hour. The duo took their diverse styles and blended them into grooving, bluesy, rock music. To give you an idea of their sound, picture the Dave Matthews Band playing with Stevie Ray Vaughn.
No stranger to music, Billy started on the drums at age 3. Billy's father, Bill Sr., is a legendary guitarist who is best known for his work with the Bobby Fuller Four (I Fought the Law). Realizing he lived with the ultimate guitar mentor, Billy began studying the guitar in his early teens.
↓ more ↓Billy's love for blues, funk, jazz and rock n' roll is reflected in his signature playing style.
Roger started performing while in high school. Inspired by his favorite authors, Roger wrote music and prose that explored the human condition. Various folk, classical, gospel and rock artists all influenced his musical development.
Many talented musicians contributed to this project. On several occassions, Bill Sr. stepped into the studio to record some amazing guitar work. Revered session player Larry Knectel, with thirty-seven gold records to his credit, played the keyboards on "Malpractice". He has played on such cuts as: Bridge Over Troubled Water, and Light my Fire. Jason Cornell laid down the groovy bass lines while Tony Brown and Pat Cox shared the drum chores.
Due to scheduling conflicts, the majority of these songs were recorded individually. In fact, Roger did not meet Jason or Tony until after the project was completed! Cheers to technology!
