Contemplative jazz and blues-influenced Christian folk
Bio / Background
Joel Bidderman’s “A Prelude to Tomorrow” (2007) is a refreshing, engaging musical tapestry which weaves together the simplicity of acoustic instruments with poetic lyrics. The concept of the album showcases songs written primarily at night, but are also inspired by the truth that every day and prayer draws us closer to the return of Jesus Christ. The songs are grounded in intimacy with Christ and a longing to know Him more. The recording was done completely “organically”, meaning, it was done without pickup electronics (unplugged). All of the music from guitar, to vocals, bass, percussion, etc, were all recorded through microphones. The songwriting also digs down to the folk artist’s musical roots of jazz and blues, while it contemplates the reality and mystery of a human heart's relationship with its Creator.

One of the defining characteristics of Joel's concerts is the stories that he tells. Encouraging and provocative, Joel’s music and message invites its listeners to live life with passion and meaning.
