Brainchild of programmer/engineer Hans Gutknecht (credits include Deborah Cox, the Roots, George Clinton), Beat Corp consists of Gutknecht, Dan Maiman (vocals, production), and producers Keith Kohn and Brian Ulrich. Their debut release is a potent concoction of aggressive electronic pop rife with loops, hip-hop beats, grinding industrial guitar, sharp angles, and infectious vocals (a mix of whispery rasps and straining gothic caterwauls). Permanent Jetlag doesn't break a whole lot of new ground, but it grooves swimmingly within its genre boundaries. Feature tracks include the inspired "Beat Corp Theme" (available in two versions) and "I Wish," which captivates with its droning, Velvets-inspired psychedelic minimalist pop. ~ Jim Esch, All Music Guide

The Beat Corp sound could be considered a mixture of late Primal Scream, Mogwai, Fluke, and Beta Band. Not known for sparing any musical genres, this is a sound that any listener can vibe with.
Formed in 2002 by Hans Gutknecht. Being the programmer for many projects over the course of 8 years, Hans defined a style and stuck to it. Enlisting his programming skills and years of engineering, he began the songwriting process which became Beat Corp. Enlisting the talent of Dan Maiman to do additional vocals and production, Keith Kohn for some wizardry on the wheels of steel and for a fiery Paratrooper Remix of the Beat Corp Theme, Brian Ulrich.
