Progressive Americana from the Sirens of Indie-grass
Bio / Background
The Blackberry Bushes are a vibrant acoustic string band known for their unique vocal harmonies, poetic lyrics, and the uncanny ability to start toes wiggling, heels tapping, arms flying and heads tossing back. "Like someone threw a radio from yesteryear high into the treetops and three sirens started singing songs you've never heard..." Runaway Girl (January 2004)
The Blackberry Bushes emerged from a rainy winter in Olympia, WA. Jessica Raymond, Pam Margon and Kendl Winter met at the sweet smelling Blue Heron Bakery; they decided to meet and play some of their own music, and the band was born. One year later they were joined by Cera Impala who added her voice and finger picking guitar to the Blackberry Bushes instrumentation of fiddle, banjo, and mandolin. Soon after came Joe Capoccia, rocking the low end of the band on the infamous cable tub two string bass.

Bonded by their love of bluegrass music, uncensored laughter, and legwarmers they began performing everywhere they could, from house parties, bars, cafes and galleries to street corners, festivals, and radio stations. They have touched hearts, inspired laughter and instigated dancing with uncommon ease. In the summer of 2004 they recorded the project Moon Pie. KAOS has charted Moon Pie with the College Media Journal. Their repetoire of original, bluegrass, and traditionally twisted music is inspired by the oldest mountains in the world and their home in the Pacific Northwest.Their music is performed with energy, honesty, and good fun. From all ages punk shows to festival stages they have always been recieved with zeal and true approval.
