Barry Sides new record Broken Hearts Broken Strings, carves another notch on Gainesville, Florida’s musical family tree, a musical tree that includes Bernie Leadon (Flying Burrito Brothers & The Eagles), Don Felder (The Eagles), Stephen Stills, Tom Petty and all the Heartbreakers, Sister Hazel and Bo Diddley.
Broken Hearts Broken Strings offers 11 new originals by Sides. It features former Heartbreaker Stan Lynch on drums, guitar, percussions, and background vocals; Grammy winning musician Ronny Cates on bass and guitar; and guitarist Jeff Sims who also produced the record.
In the tradition of the Eagles and Tom Petty, Broken Hearts Broken Strings is an acoustic-based album layered with melodic guitars and poignant vocals and is a lyrical and musical masterpiece. Very few artists write with the honesty which flows from the pen of Barry Sides. Fewer still write about love and loss with his conviction.
