About the band:
Banshee in the Kitchen plays Celtic music with eclectic skill and merry abandon. The trio has delighted audiences since 2001 in festivals, theaters, living rooms, and countless other venues from New York to Los Angeles. They take traditional Celtic tunes, find the sweet spot between the old and the new, then stir it all up with playfulness and exquisite musicality they term "banshee-fying". The result is an eclectic, energetic sound all their own.
"The audience loves them. Not only are they accomplished musicians, but they are very engaging, excellent performers.

- Patrick Moran, producer, Long Beach Celtic Festival-by-the-Sea
Critics praise their instrumental precision and flair for arrangement, concert producers love the way they can pack a house, educators rave over their ability to tap into the passion of their students, while audiences applaud the fun and oh-so-musical experience of being with Banshee in the Kitchen.
"Mixing up hammered dulcimer, fiddle, flutes, accordion, bouzouki, and guitar, these three women create a whirlwind of sound that's easily more than the sum of its parts. They'll keep you on your feet all night!"
- Grammy-winning fiddler Richard Greene
On stage, melodists Brenda Hunter (fiddle, hammered dulcimer) and Jill Egland (flute, accordion, whistle) trade off inspired flights of lead and counter melody over the dynamic rhythms of Mary Tulin (six- and twelve-string guitar, bouzouki). Primarily instrumentalists, they also sing with passion their trademark blended sets of tunes and songs.
"Jill and Brenda were 'locked in' as tight as any rhythm and blues band. With Mary at the microphone, they launched into the best version of 'False Knight on the Road' ...ever."
- David Nigel Lloyd, The Blackboard
Albums and Radio play:
December 2002 saw the Banshees' debut release, If We Were Us, closely followed by Catching the Mooncoin in June 2003. Internationally syndicated public radio show Echoes (PRI) features Mooncoin, which placed in its top 20 albums of 2003. Echoes producer John Diliberto has since aired a live interview and two concert broadcasts with Banshee in the Kitchen. Meanwhile, Catching the Mooncoin was picked up by NPR's All Songs Considered, and continues to get regular play in Ireland, Europe, Australia, and across the U.S.
