A brand new CD with melodic Hebrew vocals to the music of composer/lyricist Jacob Balshan, with original musical arrangements by Nathan Cohen. These love stories/songs engage the listener with a world beat to brilliant guitar and other instrumentation.
Bio / Background
Jacob Balshan recorded this, his third original CD, at the studio of Nathan Cohen in Gan Hayim, Israel, in March of 2006. All of the music and most of the lyrics to these 12 songs were written by Jacob. Other lyricists include Natan Alterman, Itzak ben Tov and Moshe Shafrir. While most of the songs are spirited memories and stories of love- missed, unfulfilled and fulfilled; the title song: “Queen of the City” describes the triumphant moment of a diva on stage; it was inspired by a trip to New York to hear his nephew Guy Bocati play guitar for the world famous Israeli popular singer- Rita. “Tell Me”- a beautiful ballad of longing, is the story of a lover who wants to be told only that he is loved and desired. The CD is packaged with literal English translations in a 16 page booklet; however, these do not capture the poetic beauty of the Hebrew language, as interpreted in the captivating and commanding baritone voice of a precise and articulate singer/songwriter.
