BACKDRIFT is a Boston based electronic rock band. Their debut CD "Amethysm" is available now, featuring ambient, fluid electro-rock. The band was formed by Boston based author Rob Watts. The band was basically a side project for Watts between writing projects. So between him and some contributors, BACKDRIFT set out to create a debut album that would appeal to music fans who are tired of the same boring music played on commercial radio today.
Their debut album "Amethysm (The goddess of your system)" was released in April of 2005. It was recorded between Jan 2004-Feb 2005 in Dorchester Ma. The CD is over an hour long and features 11 mind numbing, bass pounding tracks. The band will donate 1 dollar from each sale of this CD to environmental charities.
Although their CD has just been released, BACKDRIFT is working on new material for their second album, due out in late 2005/early 2006.
