Heartfelt rock music blending many influences into a collective fresh sound.
Bio / Background
Take a voyage through vivid dreamscapes, emotional flourishes and undeniable attitude with the L.A. four-piece modern rock band, Building A Better Spaceship. Sharing the stage with bands like Hard-fi, Avenged Sevenfold, Lit and Hoobastank, it is apparent that they can hang with the heavy-hitters in the touring rock n’ roll scene. Driving rhythms merely lay down the runway for a poetic uplift of powerful vocals. Song after song the messages behind the music are prettied by tasteful churns of guitar and bass. Building A Better Spaceship take the typical modern rock genre and make it meaningful once again with optimistic sentiments and have the ability to set the stage for intimate musical enjoyment.

Adam Holt, Ross Facundo and Rick Johnson had been playing music together since their freshman year in high school, back in New Caney, TX. After graduation, Adam and Rick headed west. Before long they’d convinced Ross to join them out in California .
↓ more ↓Together the three focused on their music and tried to put together a band. They began an exhaustive search for a dynamic lead singer who could front the project. In the spring of 2005 they found their missing link in the form of Vinn Lombardo. Vinn answered their ad in a local newspaper and the four instantly clicked. "We auditioned almost 200 vocalists. I think that Vinn was the 191st, we knew he was the one when he walked in, he had the vibe we were looking for. Then he started singing and we were all just blown away" says Adam. The chemistry was immediate. The newly formed band began writing and writing… and writing. From the first session they found a natural ability to easily create an eclectic yet pure rock sound.
Already in its short history, Building a Better Spaceship has bowled over crowds in the thousands. They brought the house down at The KROQ Microbrew Festival in Los Angeles and earned a following at famous Sunset Strip rock clubs The Roxy, The Viper Room and The Whisky. They won 1st place at the Battle of the Bands at Jillian’s Las Vegas, up against 45 other bands and also dominated the U.S. Finals of The Global Battle of the Bands at The Key Club Los Angeles in November. They were named “Best New Band” for the US, besting over 200 acts from all genres in 12 major markets. At the end of the year, they represented the U.S. at the World Finals in London at the historic Astoria Theatre. The young band has found themselves opening for Lifehouse in Hawaii, Unwritten Law in Vegas, 311 in Vegas, the Vans Warped Tour and a main stage performance in March at the Ultra Music Festival in Miami with The Killers, Hot Hot Heat and Hard Fi. April 2006 featured shows at a KROQ event at the Santa Anita Racetrack and a main stage performance at the House of Blues Concerts Extreme Thing in Las Vegas – a huge action sports event including other main stage acts Hoobastank, Avenged Sevenfold, Pepper and Lit.
Their hyperkinetic live show has earned Building a Better Spaceship a field of loyal fans. The band’s passion for their music just explodes off the stage. Their musical influences range from the Police to U2, the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Stone Temple Pilots, The Deftones and Filter covering a full spectrum of styles. Their own music has an anthemic feel with emotion felt through every instrument and chorus, from their ballads to their crowd-moving rockers. The word is spreading. Their radio-friendly music is finding a home at Modern Rock and Alternative stations across the country in Hawaii, Las Vegas, Denver, and St. Louis and up and down the East Coast. They’re Building a Better Spaceship.
Building a Better Spaceship is Vinn Lombardo (vocals), Adam Holt (drums), Rick Johnson (guitar), and Ross Facundo (bass)
