in short, AVI is a Hip-Hop Enthusiast.. Hailing from West Covina, CA, this poetic Jazz Diciple is nothin short of pure greatness. From the opening trak in STRAIGHT UP-- "The Funk"-- to "Pro" (the last), listener's ears are blessed with true, musical expression-- somethin' wildly scarce in the commercialized music world. With Clever, lyrical composition of both words and melodies, Avi boasts his ability to captivate any average person who enjoiz "dope" music. Although he's not one to criticize gangsta rap or hardcore hustla club music, he does give the hip hop community somethin' just as raw, but with an alternate, jazzy, intellectual twist.
ALL but Three trax on this album were produced from scratch by Avi himself. Using nothing more than a keyboard to create simple jazz/funk riffs and Drum patterns that "flip" as he would say, AVI gives the public his roots in the form of music.
