Bio / Background
Automatic Children grew out of Adam Lippman’s solo project. The former bassist for Supple (“Hurricane Streets” and “Clubland” soundtracks, CMJ charts for 16 weeks), Adam recruited Crista G. via the internet way back in 2003. It wasn’t until 2006 that they reconnected and sat down to learn songs from Lippman’s 2 cd’s: “Lo-Fi, Hi-Maintenance” and “Fool’s Gold”. Crista recruited drummer and colleague Bruce Baek. Both were teaching film at the time. “Adam Lippman and the Professors” made their debut on a very hot August night at R&R in 2006. After a couple of personnel changes, Teddy Williams, bassist for “Anja”, joined the group in late fall 2006. Along the way, they played Galapagos, the Knitting Factory, the Delancey and the Baggot Inn, among others. The quartet, having that right chemistry, began finding a groove of its own and began introducing songs written by Crista G. and then the group as a whole.
