Bio / Background

singer and songwriter austin may from the small town of york, pennsylvania crafts genuine and honest songs pertaining to broken relationships, disappointment, social indifference and life as a 20-something with no real direction. his music in influenced greatly by musicians and bands such as elliott smith, bright eyes, matt sharp and pedro the lion, but he really makes his songs his own by using slow tempos and simple arrangements to emphasize the dark subject matter of his music.

austin may's first cd, which is self titled, was released independently on october 4, 2005. all the songs were co-written by his friends and were originally performed by the past bands austin was in. he recorded and mixed everything himself at his home studio, and purposely oversimplified it to give a somewhat unique feel and to steer clear of current trends and fads within the indie community.
