A unique combination of early 90's rock and the modern day indie sound
Bio / Background
Previously playing in the band Gunner Stahl at Loyola College, drummer Stephen Faig and Bassist Rich Nardo decided to continue their dedication to music after graduating in May 2005. Nardo quickly enlisted childhood friend, Kevin Bender, formerly of the Long Island band Hoban, to do vocals, guitar, and keyboard for a new band they were forming which they decided to call A Staggering Genius after the popular Dave Eggers book. Drawing from a variety of rock influences including Brand New, Lifetime, Rise Against and Muse, the group quickly put together 8 new songs and recorded a 3 song demo entitled "From Non-Existent to Halfway Decent" with producer Jack Kearney of Cellar Door Productions. The band is currently playing venues thoughout New York and New Jersey in support of their debut EP "Willing and Able Are Two Different Things" (Yell-ow Records, produced by Anthony Vero).
↓ more ↓The album reflects the variety of musical influences the band draws from ranging from the powerful opener "My American Nightmare" to the slower, darker "Quiet Ends" which is based on the true story of a man hanging himself in his girlfriend's front yard.
album released: December 2005
