An acoustic storytelling of everyday life based on experiences and relationships that make it worth living.
Bio / Background
With the release of SENIOR PROJECT, Neil Arot’s voice and message finally take flight. Music has been an integral part of Arot’s life, but took a back seat while the joys and time constraints of “family” entered his world.
In high school, Neil performed publicly, playing bass in a number of bands. During college, Arot found the first opportunity to perform original songs at local coffee houses. His music was well received.
A meeting with Ken Katz and Jack Braggan led to Arot joining The Katz n Braggan Kidds,a band blending Southern Rock, Country/Western, and Bluegrass sounds. They added Rusty Lynch on pedal steel, and a major label courted the band.
Members decided to disband as “daily life” called, but Arot continued to write music and perform when time permitted. Reconnecting with Lynch and his wife Terrie provided an outlet to play local events. Arot took notice as the music, woven through out his life, summoned him.
↓ more ↓In 2004, Arot was asked by high school band mate Dan Montgomery to join The Dan Montgomery Ward; an acoustic trio of Montgomery on guitar/vocals, Gus Cordovox on accordion, and Arot on bass and vocals. Neil recorded on Montgomery's album, "The Man From Out Of State" at Easley McCain studios in Memphis. When he returned home, Arot was filled with an intense desire to record some of the songs he had been writing for years.
In 2005, Drexel University Music students, Ryann Lynch and Alisa Preisler, presented Neil Arot with the opportunity to record his first album as their senior project. The record features musicians Jim Fogarty (Acoustic/Electric Guitar and Mandolin), Rusty Lynch (Bass/Pedal Steel/Dobro/Vocals), Terrie Lynch (Acoustic Guitar/Vocals), Bob "Wags" Wagner (Blues Harp/Vocals), Todd Johnson (Banjo), Ryann Lynch (Violin/Cello/Vocals), and Jillian Giblin (Vocals).
The album, titled "Senior Project" is released on New Jersey’s 106 Seaside Music.
