WinterFire is a Christmas album that takes original songs and traditional tunes and bends them around two harps and voices until they breathe new life.
Bio / Background
Ardyth Robinson and Jennifer Wyatt began playing together many years ago for fun, and they still are... After almost ten years on the road, they are still the best of travelling companions, and they can't believe how lucky they are to be able to sustain a life "on the road". Their music has been described as an intricate musical Celtic knot, intertwining harps and voices in exquisite patterns, and as they have travelled throughout the Maritimes and into the New England States, this sound has become their trademark, drawing in more and more audiences.
As soon as Ardyth & Jennifer began to play for public performances, almost ten years ago, they decided to make a cassette as a Christmas present for friends and family. They saved up enough money to pay for one day in the studio, got up their courage, and went in to record. As news travelled about their recording, many people asked if they could purchase a copy, so they decided to make a few extras to help cover the costs.
↓ more ↓They sold their first run of this recording out in a matter of weeks, and the dream of a professional recording was born.
After Awakening and Promise, it was time to return to their beginnings and release a Christmas album. Everything about WinterFire was perfect from beginning to end- Big Sky Studio One was once again an incredible place to work, and with the magic ears of Pam mason lending a hand throughout the entire process, the recording was a gift from day one. The musicians that lent their talents to embellish the harps and voices were all incredibly talented and gracious with their time and talents.
Since the release of WinterFire, Ardyth & Jennifer have travelled throughout the Maritimes every Christmas to perform in ever widening circles for the appreciative crowds that seem to follow them. Their tours have continued to grow, and in many small communities, they have become an annual tradition.
Travelling the roads together throughout the Maritimes and into the New England States, they have remained the best of friends, and continued to draw more and more listeners in to this unique sound from and ancient instrument, and to their distinct style of songwriting. So once again, to all who listen, and all who have continued to buy our CDs and come to our concerts, "Thank you for supporting our habit!"
