Spiritual and sultry, Anya Liffey sings the songs of P. Shneidre
Bio / Background
Singer Anya Liffey and songwriter P. Shneidre set God to music, drawing on various faith traditions including the psalms of David and the poems of Vivekananda of India
Many of the songs are from the folk operas Liffey and Shneidre perform with their troupe, Truth Is One Choir, based in Hollywood, California
"Shepherd" (from "JesUs, a Folk Opera") and "Until You Pay" feature pedal steel by Marty Rifkin, now on tour with Bruce Springsteen
"A Way To Hold You," from "BuddHa, a Folk Opera," includes a Spanish lyric by actor/poet Viggo Mortensen and features Philip Watt, on loan from Rilo Kiley, on trumpet
"All of Love" incorporates the smooth scrapings and shakings of Carl Quesnel, from Lemon Joy, on guiro and maracas
"Sleep Is A Death" is a setting of lines by 17th-century Anglican cleric Thomas Browne
