Annie's passion for image driven songs brings listeners to the ghost-country of Northern Vermont, to the tattoo parlors, to the graves of lost truckers, to the back seat of Jamie's T-bird, to the wildest regions of the heart.
Bio / Background
Music has always been a part of Annie's life, and after getting her undergrad degree at Syracuse University in '96 she decided to pack her things and move to Nashville to chase her dream to the max. But not before she saw much of the USA from her ailing Subabru Justy on the southwest rodeo circuit, camping from Mesquite, TX to Cody, Wy and writing songs about her strange experiences... and not before she'd lived in NYC and Boston and kissed her folks good-bye up in the Northeast kingdom of Vermont on the Canadian border. Annie craves adventure, and this is so evident in her off-the-wall, image-driven music.
After moving to Nashville, Annie hooked up ith the infamous Girls With Guitars and began recording and playing gigs both with the 'gals and on her own, as aggressively as she could.
↓ more ↓Her quirky songs quickly began to win the hearts of her audience, and her painfully real and unusual ballads of lost truckers and snake-handling preachers brought her recognition at the 2002 Kerrville Folk Festival in Texas where she won their New Folk Songwriters Contest award, an honor she is tremendously proud of.
Annie plays venues in Nashville from the Bluebird to Billy Block's Western Beat, and her red pigtails and wild joy in performing have won her quite a loyal following. She plays as many shows as she can throughout the south and beyond, and is sure to charm her listeners wherever she goes. Her music is her own, and is a delight to all - - she is a truly captivating young performer, and leaves her audience laughing and crying, and always wanting more.
She is nearly finished with her second album, and looks forward to her promotion of this project, and hopes you will too. Thanks for visiting, and enjoy this strange and lovely music, filled with stories and visuals to last a lifetime.
