This girl rocks, and she rolls, too.
Bio / Background
Infectious Pop/Rock. If the Album were a book, you wouldn’t put it down until the last word. You’d be drawn back to it and keep re-reading it, finding more juicy details at each sitting.
GENRE: Rock/Pop/Alternative
The more you play the CD, the higher you turn the volume, the more it gets to you. With influences from Classic and Modern Rock, Pop, even Jazz and Funk, Anna McGary mixes it up and keeps the listener guessing what’s next: And while you won’t hear the same song twice, the set flows smoothly together and takes you on a wonderful listening journey.
ALBUM INFO/ARTIST BIOGRAPHY
It’s a clear path forward for Anna now. “I’ve finally found what I love and want to pursue. It’s fun to let the whole world in on it.”
Anna keeps the carrot in front of her in her approach to music : “I will never completely learn how to play guitar, or anything else. I’ll never finish learning how to write a song. And that’s why I love music.
↓ more ↓It suits my personality because I will absolutely never get bored making music!”
Anna sounds great with a band, yet these songs all stand on their own when it’s just Anna and her guitar. You can get a glimpse of these more naked performances in the bonus acoustic track of “Lights”. This version is what you would hear at Sean Kelly’s Pub or at a University Open Mic night.
Upon completion of “A Simple Turn”, Anna changed her plans of attending pharmacy school to be a musician. She’s replacing her calculator with a tuner. She’s sold her books and is diving into a pile of records. She’s traded in her organic chemistry equations for chord progressions. Some might call that crazy and brash, but she has learned to follow her intuition. “If something feels right, I’m gonna go for it. I’m doing what’s right for me. Quitting school to pursue music has been a tough decision, but I’m ready to give it my all and there are so many great things I have to offer the world of music.” It’s a “Simple Turn” towards music. Anna wrote the title track about finding the good things in life, and especially about music and the avenue for expression that she is continuing to discover.
Anna looks forward to making music her career, and writing and performing as much as possible. “Any musician will tell you--once you do a first album, you’ve gotten yourself into a lifelong habit. I’m ready to get started on a second album. I have so many more songs to write, and so much more music to share.”
